To make a collage is to take different materials like newspaper, fabric, wall paper etc. and apply them to a flat surface, sometimes in combination with painting or drawing, in order to create a visual work of art. A long-time popular craft, particularly amongst children, but an art form not to be looked down upon. Well known artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Mattisse, Joseph Cornell and many more, gave it serious attention as an art technique and produced beautiful collages. |
